BYD launched the Shark in Mexico in May 2024 and has taken it to ten more markets since, but never home. An official teaser — “The king returns from overseas!” — now says it is coming to China, under the Fang Cheng Bao brand.
Affected#
Chinese buyers, directly. Owners and buyers elsewhere — the Shark 6 is sold in Australia, the UAE and Saudi Arabia among others — are affected only if the Chinese launch changes the specification or supply, and nothing says it will.
Confirmed#
From the teaser and the Chinese filing made in July 2026, as reported:
| Size | 5,457 × 1,971 × 1,925 mm |
| Wheelbase | 3,260 mm |
| Engine | 1.5-litre turbo, 135 kW net |
| Motors | front 170 kW, rear 150 kW |
| Battery | LFP, FinDreams |
| Kerb weight | 2,710 kg |
| Gross vehicle weight | 3,495 kg |
| Top speed | 180 km/h |
Overseas it has been sold, after Mexico, in Brazil, Australia, Cambodia, Pakistan, Chile, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the UAE. CnEVPost puts sales at 4,300 in August 2026 and 29,997 from January to August.
Two figures show where the volume is: CarNewsChina reports Shark exports down 25.76 % year on year in the first half of 2026, and Australia taking about 85 % of June’s sales.
Unconfirmed#
- Chinese price, launch date, battery capacity and electric range. None has been disclosed.
- Whether the Chinese car differs from the export Shark 6. The filed figures are close to the export car’s, but no side-by-side has been published.
