BYD launched the 2027 Yuan Up in China on 17 September. It is the car sold abroad as the Atto 2, and the update adds a bigger battery while taking the more powerful motor away.
Affected#
Chinese buyers directly. European Atto 2 owners and shoppers only if the changes travel, which BYD has not said.

The trim names carry the CLTC figure; the WLTC figures are CarNewsChina’s.
- One motor for every trim: 70 kW and 180 N·m. The 130 kW option is gone.
- Gear selector moves from a centre-console toggle to a steering-column stalk.
- Size: 4,310 × 1,830 × 1,675 mm, wheelbase 2,620 mm.
The Yuan Up sold 22,958 units in China in August 2026, 12.5 % of BYD’s domestic sales.
Unconfirmed#
- Whether any of this reaches Europe. The 51.13 kWh pack, the 70 kW-only line-up and the column shifter are all China-market announcements. The European Atto 2’s software is covered by our OTA bulletins, which say nothing about hardware.
