Affiliate disclosure
How BYD Lab makes money, what an affiliate link is, and the four relationships an article can have with the thing it covers.
The short version
Nobody pays for coverage. No manufacturer, importer or brand sees an article before it is published, and none of them can change a conclusion. Where money or ownership is involved, the article says so on the article — not only here.
The four relationships
Every article declares exactly one, and it is shown under the headline:
- None. The default and the normal case. No commercial relationship of any kind.
- Affiliate. Some links earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked, carry
rel="sponsored", and never decide what gets recommended. A product we would not recommend does not become recommendable because it has a programme. - Sponsored. Someone paid for the article to exist. It is labelled as sponsored, the sponsor does not see it before publication and does not influence its conclusions. We have not published any sponsored content to date.
- Our own app. BYD Lab developsSealion 7 Pilot. Every article that involves it says so, and it is reviewed against the same criteria as anything else — including its weaknesses.
Why it is enforced, not promised
The disclosure is part of the article's data, not a line an editor remembers to add. An article that involves our own app and does not declare it fails the build, so it cannot be published by accident.
Manufacturer material
Bulletins, screenshots and press photographs from BYD and its importers are reproduced to document what changed, with the source named on the page. That is not a commercial relationship and does not imply one.
