New features#

Toggle added for speed adjustment in bends for ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) and ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control)#

Settings path: Settings → ADAS → Safety Assistance → Curve Assist. Off by default; once switched on it stays on.

Core logic: when ACC/ICC is active and the toggle has been switched on, the system reduces the speed in anticipation, based on the curvature of the approaching bend, to support safe and comfortable cornering.

The on-screen description reads: Speed Adjustment on Curve (SAOC) is an ADAS comfort function; when ACC/ICC is activated it can reduce the driving speed automatically on a curve. Note: the driver must concentrate and take over the vehicle when necessary in order to avoid accidents; refer to the manual for details.

The new Curve Assist group with the Speed Adjustment on Curve toggle, off by default.

Toggle added for adjusting the cruise speed with the accelerator pedal (override mode) for ACC / ICC#

Settings path: Settings → ADAS → Driver Assistance. Off by default; once switched on it stays on.

Core logic: the driver can adjust the cruise speed by pressing the accelerator pedal. This allows a quick, button-free speed change and improves the convenience of ACC/ICC in suitable driving situations.

How the new cruise speed is derived: if the set speed and the speed reached are both 80 km/h or below, the new cruise speed is the speed reached — target 60 km/h, accelerate to 75 km/h, release the pedal, new target 75 km/h. If both are above 80 km/h, nothing changes — target 85 km/h, accelerate to 90 km/h, release the pedal, target stays 85 km/h. If the target is below 80 km/h and the speed reached is above 80 km/h, the new cruise speed is capped at 80 km/h — target 60 km/h, accelerate to 85 km/h, release the pedal, new target 80 km/h.

The on-screen description adds: while the accelerator pedal grants full manual control over speed, the system cannot decelerate the vehicle during this override; prolonged accelerator intervention may deactivate the system; always monitor traffic conditions and remain prepared to take control.

The new Adjust Cruise Speed by Accelerator toggle in the Driving Assist settings.

The dialog states the 80 km/h ceiling and warns that the system cannot brake while the pedal overrides it.

Safety functions added for ICC/ACC: emergency stop, hands-off penalty logic and camera blockage detection#

Emergency stop function added for ICC: if the driver takes their hands off the steering wheel for a longer period, after a level 3 hands-off warning, the system switches on the hazard warning lights and brakes the vehicle in a controlled way within the lane until it comes to a standstill. Previously only ICC was ended; now ICC is ended plus the hazard warning lights come on plus the car brakes to a standstill in the lane.

Hands-off penalty logic added for ICC: after three level 3 hands-off warnings the ICC function is deactivated until the vehicle is restarted.

Camera blockage detection added for ACC/ICC: if the speed stays above 30 km/h for more than 2 minutes and the camera is completely blocked, a warning message and a fault symbol in the instrument cluster appear and ACC/ICC are ended. The functions are available again as soon as the blockage is cleared.

The page also shows the three telltales involved: the hands-off warning, the ICC warning light and the ACC warning light.

Optimisations#

Optimisation of the A/C control strategy to improve driving comfort#

Before: customers reported the windscreen misting up frequently.

After: the improved A/C behaviour increases cabin comfort, reduces misting in cold conditions and improves the dehumidification performance overall.

Optimisation of the reversing camera function#

Before: the reversing camera did not show a radar distance readout while reversing, and if the panoramic view was activated by the P–R–D gear change it was ended as soon as the vehicle speed exceeded 10 km/h.

After: the reversing camera now shows the radar distance readout while reversing, and if the panoramic view is activated by the P–R–D gear change it is only ended once the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h.

The radar distance readout is new, and the panoramic view now stays on until 15 km/h instead of 10 km/h.

What we have not verified#

  • This is a translation of BYD Austria’s bulletin, not a test: we have not installed V2.1.0 on a Dolphin Surf.
  • The bulletin was published by BYD’s Austrian importer. The release itself is the European one, but roll-out dates are given for Austria, and a few items are country-specific (radio services, interface languages, legal notes).
  • Availability of individual features can depend on trim, model year and the head-unit hardware.
