New features#

BYD Assistant added in several languages#

Four more available languages are added: Hungarian, Finnish, Hebrew and Polish. Connect over Wi-Fi or 4G and then download the voice package; availability depends on the country code.

Several interactive functions of the BYD Assistant have been optimised:

  • Voice control: supports voice commands for the electric A/C ventilation and the Max Cool mode — switch on airflow.
  • Seat ventilation and heating: switches the passenger seat ventilation to level 2.
  • Voice commands for apps: start navigation / start YouTube.
  • Spotify integration: supports voice-activated song requests through Spotify, for example “I want to hear XXX”.

The voice packages are downloaded per language from the Voice Language list.

[SEAL, SEAL U EV] Battery preheating function added#

Battery preheating: vehicle switched on, low battery temperature (16 °C) before charging.

Purpose: to improve charging performance and shorten the charging time during low-temperature DC charging.

Setting path: Settings → Energy → Charging & Discharging → Battery preheating.

The head unit explains that in low-temperature environments the traction battery can be preheated to meet the temperature requirements for high-power DC charging.

Precautions printed with the function: (1) switch the function on before charging at low temperature, which reduces the DC charging time; (2) once the battery temperature reaches the appropriate range the function switches off automatically and has to be enabled again next time; (3) the function cannot be switched on while charging.

[SEAL, SEAL U EV] Scheduled departure added to smart charging#

The usage time can be set in advance. The vehicle completes charging, battery heating and intelligent cabin temperature control before the scheduled time, so that the car is comfortable to drive away.

Scheduled Charging: set the start time and end time for charging and connect the charger, to charge at the specified time.

Scheduled Departure: set the departure time and connect the charger in advance. This function uses the charging point (or the traction battery) to preheat the battery intelligently at low temperatures.

Note on the source: the German text block on this slide does not match its own heading. It describes a repair mode instead: when a vehicle is brought to an authorised service workshop for maintenance, after-sales staff can activate repair mode on the secret-code page of the PAD. Purpose: to protect after-sales technicians from risks (for example being startled or injured) that could arise from the user operating the vehicle remotely during repair or maintenance. While repair mode is active, vehicle functions such as windows, air conditioning or horn and hazard lights cannot be controlled remotely through the BYD App.

[SEAL, SEAL U EV] AC charging current limit added#

Steps: 6 A, 8 A, 10 A, 16 A, MAX. This current value is the current per phase when AC charging.

Example: on a 230 V three-phase charging station, 16 A (16 A per phase, i.e. 48 A across all three phases) corresponds to MAX, the maximum AC charging power value.

Path: Settings → Energy → Charging & Discharging → AC charging current limit.

Target scenarios: limiting the vehicle’s charging power helps avoid overloading the household electricity supply and reduces high electricity costs during peak periods. The house wiring is old, and charging at full power for a longer time can cause an overload. In some countries a tiered electricity price applies during peak periods, which can lead to very high charging costs if the home charger runs at maximum power.

The AC charging current limit sits directly below battery preheating in the Energy menu.

Optimisations#

System user interface optimised with a next-generation design upgrade#

The user interface has been updated in full to version 5.0 and offers a more intuitive, modern and intelligent experience.

The new design follows the current UI in models such as the Sealion 07 and the New Tang, for a consistent, high-quality visual experience across the whole model range.

Driving password V2.0#

Upgrade of the driving password:

  • It is now linked to the cloud through the BYD App, the physical key and the digital key, giving users a more convenient and secure way to open and start the vehicle.
  • The same BYD app operating password can be used to drive the vehicle.
  • Forgotten password: instructions for resetting the password, and setting the operating password in the BYD App.

The head unit states that the driving password is the same as the operating password set in the BYD App. In the BYD App, Remote Control Verification requires the operating password to be confirmed once within five minutes of using vehicle control; the verification frequency can be set and Face ID can be used instead of the password. If no operating password has been set, the head unit refuses to switch the driving password function on and points the user to the BYD App.

Further optimisations#

  1. Fix for a customer problem where the other party could hear an echo during phone calls when the mobile phone was connected over Android Auto and Bluetooth. — SEAL

  2. Fix for a problem where the seat adjustment button on the PAD disappeared after a tow bar had been fitted. — SEAL

  3. Optimisation of the translations for several system languages (Polish in particular). — All models

  4. Optimisation of the anti-theft alarm system and reduction of false alarms. — SEAL U DMI RHD

  5. Removal of the inaccurate speed display on the navigation. — All models

  6. Fix for the problem with offset and fluctuation of the fuel tank pressure signal. — SEAL U DMI

  7. Optimisation of the radar alarm range after switching from “P” to “D”. — SEAL U DMI RHD

Notes#

    • Scheduled charging time can only be set once in one day. (printed inside the scheduled charging / scheduled departure comparison on page 13)

What we have not verified#

  • This is a translation of BYD Austria’s bulletin, not a test: we have not installed V2.0.0 on a Seal, Atto 2, Seal U and Seal U DM-i.
  • The bulletin was published by BYD’s Austrian importer. The release itself is the European one, but roll-out dates are given for Austria, and a few items are country-specific (radio services, interface languages, legal notes).
  • Availability of individual features can depend on trim, model year and the head-unit hardware.
