New features#
Driver-assistance cooperation function between ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control) and LDA (Lane Departure Assist) added#
Core logic. Previously: when the system detected the driver’s intention to take over, ICC/LDA deactivated and handed full control to the driver. Now: when the system detects the driver’s intention to take over, the driver and the ICC/LDA system share control of the vehicle. The stronger the driver’s steering input, the smaller the steering intervention from ICC and LDA.
Trigger condition for driver takeover, by steering torque: below roughly 3.0 N·m – shared control (driver + ICC/LDA); roughly 3.0 N·m or more – ICC/LDA are deactivated automatically and the driver takes full control.
‘Speed adjustment on curves’ toggle added for ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) and ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control)#
Setting path: Settings → ADAS → Safety Assist → Curve Assist (default: off; stays on once enabled). On the head unit the toggle is labelled ‘Speed Adjustment on Curve’.
Core logic: when ACC/ICC is active and the toggle is on, the system reduces speed in advance according to the curvature of the bend, to support safe and comfortable cornering.
‘Inside overtaking prevention’ toggle added for ACC / ICC#
Setting path: Settings → ADAS → Driving Assist → Inside Overtaking Prevention (default: off; stays on once enabled).
Core logic: when ACC/ICC is active, the speed is roughly 90 km/h or higher and the toggle is on, the system actively reduces speed if the vehicle is in the slow lane and a vehicle in the adjacent fast lane is travelling more slowly, so as to avoid overtaking on the inside.
‘Adjust speed via accelerator pedal (override mode)’ toggle added for ACC/ICC#
Setting path: Settings → ADAS → Driving Assist (default: off; stays on once enabled). On the head unit the toggle is labelled ‘Adjust Cruise Speed by Accelerator’.
Core logic: the driver can adjust the set speed by pressing the accelerator pedal, allowing a quick speed change without using the buttons and making ACC/ICC more convenient in suitable driving situations.
New set speed after releasing the pedal: if both the set speed and the driven speed are 80 km/h or below, the new set speed is the driven speed (example: set 60 km/h, accelerate to 75 km/h, release – new set speed 75 km/h). If both are above 80 km/h, there is no update (example: set 85 km/h, accelerate to 90 km/h, release – set speed stays 85 km/h). If the set speed is below 80 km/h and the driven speed is above 80 km/h, the new set speed is capped at 80 km/h (example: set 60 km/h, accelerate to 85 km/h, release – new set speed 80 km/h).
ICC/ACC safety functions added: emergency stop, ‘hands-off’ safety strategy and camera-blockage detection#
Emergency stop for ICC: if the driver keeps their hands off the steering wheel (after three level-3 ‘hands-off’ warnings have been triggered), the system activates the hazard lights and brakes the vehicle to a standstill within its lane. Previously only ICC was ended; now ICC is ended, the hazard lights are activated and the vehicle decelerates to a standstill in the lane.
‘Hands-off’ safety strategy for ICC: after three level-3 warnings, ICC is deactivated until the vehicle is restarted.
Camera-blockage detection for ACC/ICC: if the driving speed remains above 30 km/h for more than 2 minutes, a warning is issued, a fault message is shown in the instrument cluster and ACC/ICC are deactivated; they become available again once the blockage is cleared.
The page shows the hands-off warning symbol (steering wheel with hands), the ICC warning lamp and the ACC warning lamp as displayed in the instrument cluster.
Optimisations#
ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) deactivation strategy optimised#
Setting path (ICC): Settings → ADAS → Driving Assist (default: off; stays on once enabled).
Core logic. With ICC off: when the vehicle is moving, ACC can be ended with button 5 on the steering wheel or the brake pedal; when the vehicle is stationary, ACC can only be ended with button 5. With ICC on: ACC can only be ended with the brake pedal.
Maximum activation speed of ICC raised to 150 km/h#
Maximum speed: 120 km/h → 150 km/h.
Further optimisations#
When ACC is active and the vehicle comes to a standstill (gear selector in D), exiting ACC now automatically engages the electronic parking brake (AUTO HOLD).
When ACC is active and the vehicle comes to a standstill while the map switches to an off-road state (road not recognised), the automatic resume time has been reduced to 4 seconds (previously 30 seconds).
What we have not verified#
- This is a translation of BYD Austria’s bulletin, not a test: we have not installed V3.1.0 on a Sealion 7.
- The bulletin was published by BYD’s Austrian importer. The release itself is the European one, but roll-out dates are given for Austria, and a few items are country-specific (radio services, interface languages, legal notes).
- Availability of individual features can depend on trim, model year and the head-unit hardware.
